SPINNER China has introduced the latest innovation to its comprehensive product range of RF passive coverage solutions for indoor and outdoor use - a new generation of FLAT DESIGN UMTS multiplexers (BN 570535 - single unit and BN 570565 - double unit) that offers global wireless operators excellent results in combination with cost-effectiveness.
Designed to support multi-operator UMTS systems on a common antenna, the FLAT DESIGN multiplexer can be used by a multiple of operators who wish to use common sector antennas for tower/site sharing operations. It also allows operators to reuse existing feeder lines as well as antenna structures when adding new services such as LTE on the same frequency band. This in turn helps to significantly reduce overall network expenditure.
The FLAT DESIGN UMTS multiplexer is fully tuneable across the entire UMTS band with operational bandwidths of 10 to 20MHz and can there-fore be adapted to meet the specific requirements of the frequencies as-signed to the different operators. The standard model comes with high Q4 cavity filters and is capable of handling two operators with a frequency spacing of at least 5 MHz (depending on the operator bandwidth). On special request, the design can also be expanded to include more filters in cases of a reduction in the frequency guard band between the two operators. The FLAT DESIGN multiplexer is also designed to have the lowest possible intermodulation levels as intermodulation interference is a common problem with multi-bands and multi-operator systems. As standard, it also contains a switchable DC bypass for TMA/Antenna throughput control and functionality.
The multiplexer housing is made of seawater-proof aluminium which offers excellent corrosion resistance, even without painting. This also makes it relatively resistant to damage such as scratches, which may easily occur during installation. The multiplexer is one of the most compact products of its kind on the market and very lightweight at just 5kg (single unit) or 11kg (double unit). The unidirectional input and output ports further allow for simple on-site installation. It can be rack-mounted, tower-mounted or wall-mounted. The IP65 protection rating means that the multiplexer is protected against dust, water and other harsh environmental influences.
We are also in the process of developing a FLAT DESIGN concept for the entire SPINNER multiplexer product range in the near future and this will comprise all other mobile communication frequency bands including GSM900, GSM1800, and LTE.
